YK:n kehitysohjelman Pohjoismaiden toimisto etsii yhteyshenkilöä/tiedottajaa Helsinkiin.
Toimisto hoitaa järjestön suhteita Pohjoismaiden hallituksiin ja tiedottaa UNDP:n työstä YK:n vuosituhattavoitteiden saavuttamiseksi. Toimisto sijaitsee Kööpenhaminassa, mutta Suomen yhteyshenkilön toimipaikka on Helsingin Katajanokalla.
Tehtävä edellyttää soveltuvaa akateemista koulutusta sekä kokemusta viestinnästä ja kehityskysymyksistä. Sujuva suomen- ja englanninkielen taito on ehdoton vaatimus. Varsinainen tehtävänkuvaus ja tarkemmat pätevyysvaatimukset löytyvät alta.

Background
UNDP is the UN's global development network, an organization advocating for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life. We are on the ground in almost all developing countries, working with them on their own solutions to poverty, crisis, environmental degradation and hiv/aids.
Our Nordic Office informs the Nordic public, media and governments about the Millennium Development Goals and UNDP’s efforts to meet them. The office is located in Copenhagen, with sub offices in Oslo, Stockholm and Helsinki.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the general supervision of the Director, UNDP Nordic Office, and under the direct supervision of the Deputy Director, the Liaison Officer/Communications Officer undertakes the following substantive duties and responsibilities:
CONSTITUENCY RELATIONS and LIAISON FUNCTION (approx 50 %)
- Establish and maintain lines of communication with Finnish opinion-leaders and decision-makers (particularly those in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs) to mobilize political and financial support for the Millennium Development Goals and UNDP’s efforts to meet them
- Monitor Finnish development policy debate and provide UNDP management with intelligence
- Support visits of UNDP officials to Finland and facilitate their dialogue with Finnish partners.
- Facilitate field trips to UNDP programme countries for Finnish parliamentarians, government officials and other key partners
- Facilitate the communication between Finnish government and UNDP offices around the world
- Broker partnerships between the Finnish government and UNDP country offices
- Support Nordic UNDP colleagues with their constituency relations and liaison function
MEDIA RELATIONS AND OUTREACH ACTIVITES ( approx 40 %)
- In cooperation with supervisors and Nordic colleagues, develop and implement a UNDP communications strategy for Finland
- Undertake research and liaise with UNDP offices globally to identify field experiences that support the communications strategy
- Work with the Finnish media to generate coverage of key development issues (including the Millennium Development Goals) and UNDP efforts to address them: provide media organizations with background materials, press releases, opportunities to interview UNDP officials, etc.
- Facilitate press trips to UNDP programme countries
- Prepare national launches of key UNDP reports, in particular the Human Development Report (HDR)
- Organize joint seminars and other events with the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, national parliamentarians and other relevant institutions
- Maintain an attractive UNDP web site in Finnish
- Support Nordic UNDP colleagues with their media relations and outreach
TRAINING (aprox 10 %)
- Organize and contribute to training sessions targeting politicians, journalists, teachers and other relevant target audiences

Required Skills and Experience
- Masters Degree in Communications, Journalism, International Affairs, Development Studies or other related field
- 2 to 5 years relevant professional experience from the media, politics, NGOs or government. Previous experience with development cooperation. Experience with the UN would be an asset
- Excellent personal communication and networking skills and ability to mobilize support for UNDP from a wide range of audiences (media, public, private, academic, civil society)
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team with demonstrated ability to take own initiative to reach goals
- Knowledge of Finnish development cooperation, politics, the media
- Knowledge of global development issues and the United Nations
- Fluency in Finnish and English. Good understanding of Swedish
- Excellent analytic and journalistic skills
- Sound judgment required to act as spokesperson for a neutral UN organization
